What is CO2 Laser Therapy?

The DEKA Tetra is a state-of-the-art fractional CO2 laser resurfacing technology. Tetra is designed to improve acne scars, wrinkles, pigmentation and skin laxity. The unique “spray” mode blends with your skin and creating a natural finish compared to other ablative lasers. This laser provides improved ablation while reducing the amount of heat build-up within the skin allowing for a quicker recovery period.

Am I a Candidate for CO2 Laser Therapy?

The DEKA Tetra is appropriate for patients looking to improve the tone and texture of skin. CO2 is able to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, pigmentation, scarring and even improve skin laxity. This treatment is most suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types 1-3. In comparison, the CoolPeel can treat all skin types. Additionally, either treatment is able to be applied to more delicate skin such as eyelids, under the eyes, upper lip and even the back of hands. How Does CO2 Laser Therapy Work?

The DEKA Tetra laser works by forming micro-channels within the skin. This prompts the skin to begin the repair process by rebuilding new collagen. The results can be seen as soon as one week after your initial treatment. Your skin will continue to produce new collagen for approximately 3 months after your treatment resulting in more youthful skin overall.

How is CO2 Laser Therapy Performed?

The DEKA Tetra treatment for a full face is approximately 20 minutes. Settings used will be based on what your main skin concerns and your specific skin type. Topical numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. A zimmer is offered during and after your treatment to provide additional comfort if needed. A recommended post-care kit will be provided along with detailed aftercare instructions.

What Can I Expect After Tetra CO2 Laser Therapy?

Patients usually experience redness and a “spicy” sensation after the treatment. Clean, cool compresses can be applied to the area to provide comfort. It is recommended to keep the treatment area hydrated with a heavy moisturizer. Aquaphor and Vaseline can be applied to the area as well. Vinegar soaks may also be used to provide extra comfort. Some people experience swelling or a puffy appearance. This is especially common around the eyes and can occur even on the lowest settings. Depending on the depth of your treatment, some may experience oozing of the skin which resolves as the skin heals. The skin will begin to develop a rough texture and will shed, leaving you with renewed skin. It is highly recommended to avoid sun exposure during the healing process as well as applying a medical grade sunscreen. As with all of our ablative skin procedures, we recommend a post-procedure treatment kit specific to your skin type to aid in healing and rejuvenation.
